Xiè xiè (thank you) and Zài jiàn (goodbye) China, nǐ hǎo (hello) Singapore! Late on Sunday afternoon (local time), FC Bayern landed at their third and final destination of the 2017 Audi Summer Tour. After four days in Shanghai and two in Shenzhen, the German record champions will now spend five days in the south Asian nation, where there will be numerous training sessions alongside two friendlies against Chelsea (25 July) and Inter Milan (27 July) as part of the International Champions Cup. “We’re itching for the next match and putting the defeat to AC Milan behind us,” said Thomas Müller. The Munich club will return home to Bavaria following the match against Inter on Thursday.
Lahm and Kimmich honoured with sport award
Philipp Lahm has been awarded the Bavarian Sport Award for the second time. The long-time FCB captain was honoured with the “Personal Prize of the Bavarian Minister President.” Bavaria’s Minister President Horst Seehofer acknowledged the amazing performances of Lahm, who announced an end to his career at the end of last season. “Philipp Lahm is an exceptional footballing talent and an amazing person. His career has been shaped by his intelligence, well-spoken manner, determination and the right intuition. And he has always remained faithful. He is a true role model both on and off the pitch. Not everyone in football can say that about themselves,” Seehofer explained. Joshua Kimmich was also honoured in the category “Outstanding Young Sportsman/woman.”
Surprise party for Giovane Elber
There was a milestone for our former goal-getter Giovane Elber, who was serenaded by numerous Bayern fans at midnight in Shenzhen. The Brazilian turned 45 as the clock struck 12, and as well as the obligatory happy birthdays there was also a Bayern cake for the FCB ambassador. Elber, who scored 92 goals in 169 Bundesliga games for the Reds, was clearly moved. fcbayern.com would also like to add: Happy birthday, Giovane!
