Rummenigge visits Tongji University
FC Bayern München chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge visited Tongji University in Shanghai on Wednesday. The FC Bayern München Scholarship has been awarded since last year with the aim of promoting social dialogue between China and Germany. Rummenigge met the first three scholarship students during the current Audi Summer Tour and he said: "Tongji University is an ideal partner for our social commitment in China. Our office in Shanghai has been open for almost a year and we've always said we wanted to operate over the long term in China. Of course, we want to make contact with our many millions of fans, build social relationships and establish a dialogue with China."
Rummenigge was accompanied by Professor Dr. Dieter Mayer, vice-president of FC Bayern München e.v. Extending the scholarship was agreed at a meeting with Professor Jiang Wu, executive vice-president of Tongji University. A first 'Germany programme' is to be developed in addition to the current financial support scheme for students for one academic year.
