The journey continues for FC Bayern. The second stop on the Audi Summer Tour 2017 has brought the record German champions to Shenzhen. And just as they were in Shanghai, the team were greeted by euphoric fans on arrival at the airport as well as their hotel.
“The fans here are crazy, it’s great for us. They’re just always there. I’d like to really thank the Chinese fans for their support,” said an impressed Javi Martínez. It was back to business in training this evening. Although only around 400 fans were allowed into the session, there was a superb atmosphere as the supporters cheered Bayern on with chants and FCB songs.
Special match for Ancelotti
Carlo Ancelotti is now looking forward to the match on Saturday even more. In any case it’s a special match for the Italian, even if it is only a friendly. At the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre he’ll go up against his former club AC Milan. “I was at Milan for a very long time, so it’s always special. I have wonderful memories of my time there, 13 years is a big part of my football life. I’m a big Milan fan,” described the coach.
A special game requires special conditions. At the press conference on Friday evening, the 58 year-old had to briefly act as an interpreter when a question was asked in Italian. Then he collected the balls himself after training.
There’s much anticipation for the meeting with the Italian giants since it serves a good purpose. “It’s good for us to play against such strong teams and helps us improve. We’re focused on putting in a good performance,” said Ancelotti. The fans can also look forward to a good match – and the players to a magnificent backdrop.
