
The brand new FC Bayern youth academy was inaugurated on Monday, but over at the Säbener Strasse site demolition work is in full swing. The multi-purpose hall has all but disappeared, the removal of the youth house's façade has begun, and the first walls have been torn down. The construction of an office building is set to begin in October.
Recovering pros work up a sweat
The Bayern pros officially had the day off on Monday, but some of the stars worked towards comebacks at the Säbener Strasse HQ. Manuel Neuer worked out under the auspices of goalkeeping coach Toni Topalovic. Jérôme Boateng completed a session on the pitch, and James Rodríguez too was out in the open air pursuing an individual programme.
FC Bayern golf for a good cause
On Saturday the traditional FC Bayern Charity Golf Cup took place for the 22nd time. One day after the Bundesliga opener, 80 participants braved driving rain, golfing for a good cause. Bayern president Uli Hoeneß, his predecessor Karl Hopfner, directors Jan-Christian Dreesen, Andreas Jung and Jörg Wacker, former pros like Manfred Bender and Michael Tarnat as well as members of the FCB family had fun at the Tegernseer Golf Club Bad Wiessee. The friends and sponsors raised a total of €50,000 of which the club will donate equal shares to FC Bayern Hilfe eV and the Franz Beckenbauer Foundation.
