"We're happy and satisfied," said FC Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic after the 3-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in driving rain at the Allianz Arena. However, the Bavarians saw room for improvement in light of a number of chances for their opponents.
Reaction to Bayern v Leverkusen
Hasan Salihamidzic: "We've won and clinched the first three points. We're happy and satisfied. But of course there are things we have to improve."
Carlo Ancelotti: "It was a difficult match. We scored early but didn't defend well then. We allowed too much space between the lines. It happens at this point, we have to improve. We have to be compact. Hummels had a stomach problem, Müller's substitution was a tactical decision. We wanted to change the system."
Niklas Süle: "It's been a special day for me, the first match for my new club and my first goal. It was nice for me, especially regarding the great atmosphere. It wasn't easy, we struggled. We had presentable chances in the first half. Things didn't go so well in the second half. The freshness was missing. There were many chances. Perhaps the scoreline is a little too high."
Heiko Herrlich (Bayer Leverkusen coach): "It never feels great when you lose, but I think we don't have to be ashamed of our performance. We attacked with courage and created a number of chances. Taken altogether we can be satisfied with the chances but we have to use them. The victory for Bayern is absolutely okay."
Bernd Leno (Bayer Leverkusen keeper): "I have mixed feelings because more would have been possible. We had lots of chances but if we don't use them it's tough in Munich."
Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen): "We were caught napping in the first half and conceded stupid goals after set-pieces. We had many chances to turn the tide in the second half. It didn't work out. Bayern made the most of it and scored from the spot. But it goes on, it was the first match."
