Carlo Ancelotti was in a good mood during Tuesday morning’s training session where he welcomed back some returning players. Javi Martínez and Thiago completed the majority of the session with the team for the first time since recovering from their injuries.

Thiago in particular was in a noticeably enthusiastic mood. During every break he snatched the ball, showed off some tricks or lifted up one of his teammates to get to the ball. The 26 year-old showed the same delight during the individual training games as he distributed the ball in midfield with fine ball control and fast movement.

Lewandowski provides the highlight moment

It was clear to see for the 2,000 fans at the open session that the treatment room at Bayern is getting emptier. Jérôme Boateng and James Rodríguez both worked on their rehabilitation on the adjacent pitch while Thiago and Martínez just sat out the end of the session to continue their exercises in the sandpit.

At the same time their teammates got down to business with a high-tempo training match. Manuel Neuer was in goal again and demonstrated some fine saves but there was one effort he was powerless to stop. Robert Lewandowski fired the ball past him with a perfect scissor kick that caused great cheers among the spectators.

The session ended soon after and Ancelotti returned to the dressing room. The 57 year-old appeared pleased with his team’s work as they begin preparations for the second Bundesliga game of the season at Werder Bremen on Saturday. The doors will be open to fans again for tomorrow morning’s session at 10:30 CEST.
