FC Bayern lost their Audi Cup encounter with Liverpool on Tuesday and were left to rue not only the scoreline but also knocks sustained by three players. Thiago had to be subbed off as early as the 20th minute, while James Rodríguez and David Alaba had to be replaced in the second half.

"Thiago and Alaba have taken knocks," commented FCB head coach Carlo Ancelotti, who thinks it is "no big problem." James has muscular problems: "We'll examine him more thoroughly tomorrow."

Ancelotti will have no new players at his disposal on Wednesday evening, when Bayern take on Napoli. The 58-year-old said he would not field Arjen Robben and Jérôme Boateng as they have yet to fully recover: "They will not be playing tomorrow. We don't want to take any risks. They aren't in the right condition yet." Ancelotti expects both to be fit for the Supercup final on Saturday.
