FC Bayern München is sad to hear of the passing of Albert Speer Jr. Speer, a recipient of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, was one of the most prominent German architects. His environmentally-friendly philosophy for town planning attracted attention all over the world. His company Büro AS&P was responsible for the building of the new European Central Bank in Frankfurt as well as planning stadiums for the football World Cups in South Africa in 2010 and Qatar in 2022.
Speer also helped FC Bayern München to achieve two of its most important construction projects. He was involved in the planning for the Allianz Arena in 2001 and the recently opened FC Bayern Campus was largely based on his designs and concepts. AS&P was responsible for both the whole development plan and the whole construction plan.
“FC Bayern München has lost a friend. Albert Speer Jr. was a wonderful person. Our thoughts are with his family,” said FC Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. “FC Bayern will always remember Albert Speer Jr. in the highest regard.”
Albert Speer Jr. always distanced himself from his father Albert Speer, Hitler’s architect. He died at the age of 83.
