Celtic win away to Anderlecht
Following a 5-0 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, Celtic Glasgow provided an emphatic response, winning 3-0 away to RSC Anderlecht, now equal on points with FC Bayern. The Scots will travel to face the Bavarians in mid-October. Anderlecht, now coached by new boss Nico Frutos, have failed to take any points so far.
Chances proved few and far between in a dour midfield struggle at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium. Celtic, content to contain their opponents in the first half, opened the scoring shortly before the interval, Leigh Griffiths tapping in from point-blank range.
The visitors were more courageous in the second half, doubling the lead when Kara Mbodji put through his own goal following a Patrick Roberts effort after the restart. Anderlecht failed to reply, whereas Scott Sinclair added gloss to the scoreline from a Celtic point of view in injury time.
