Javi rings the bell

The Oktoberfest is just round the corner and FC Bayern are looking forward to it. From Saturday for the next 18 days the festivities will not just be in full swing at the Theresienwiese but also at the Allianz Arena. On the opening day of the festival, FCB take on FSV Mainz 05 and VfL Wolfsburg visit the Bavarian state capital on 22 September on Bundesliga matchday six.

While men and women demonstrate their physical prowess at the Theresienwiese in the ring-the-bell strength test, Bayern are usually in a good mood at this time as well. Above all, Javi Martínez has great fun taking part in Bavarian traditions and games as he showed when presenting the Wiesn shirt in 2013. He really enjoyed swinging the hammer and he set a new record.

And the Basque star also gives his all on the pitch. With Martínez in the squad, FC Bayern have not lost a a league game during the Oktoberfest. 2017 sees the 29-yearold entering his sixth festival season and he is bound to give 100 per cent to ensure the fans will be raising their steins to toast more points for FCB again this year.

Under the heading ‘Looking back’, fcbayern.com will regularly present finds from the photo archive. Look forward to some special snapshots.
