Jérôme Boateng is back in the Germany squad as they look to book their place for the 2018 World Cup. The Bayern defender, who last played for the national side a year ago, is one of six FCB players selected by coach Joachim Löw for the final two qualifiers against Northern Ireland (5 October) and Azerbaijan (8 October). Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels, Joshua Kimmich, Sebastian Rudy and Niklas Süle are also in the 23-man squad. A draw in Northern Ireland would be enough for the reigning world champions, who are yet to drop a point in qualification.

Osmers to referee first FCB game

Harm Osmers will take charge of his first Bayern Bundesliga match on Sunday. The 32 year-old investment controller from Hanover has already refereed 11 matches in Germany’s top flight in his relatively young career. He’ll be assisted in Berlin by Florian Heft and Thomas Gorniak, with Dr. Martin Thomsen as fourth official and Sascha Stegemann the video assistant.
