Joshua Kimmich does not stand out with his outfit or his jokes off the pitch, he shines by turning in strong performances. Kimmich was a pillar for the German record champions in September. The 22-year-old has not missed a single competitive minute this season. The Bayern fans acknowledged Kimmich's displays, naming him Player of the Month in September.
"It's nice if the fans think so and vote for me. It shows I've gained some recognition. It's an appreciation of my performance," a pleased Kimmich commented on the poll. The youngster claimed 19.5 percent of the votes, ahead of striker Robert Lewandowski on 16.9 and recent arrival James Rodríguez on 9.0 percent.
Be it in midfield, as a centre-back or as a right-back, Kimmich always plays cleverly, diligently and at a consistently high level. Kimmich is increasingly becoming a strategist on the pitch, and the numbers tell the story: the defensive all-rounder boasts four assists and one goal in September.
Only Lewandowski, who finished runner-up in the poll, matches Kimmich's tally. The Poland captain did what he does best: score. He bagged a brace in the 4-0 victory against Mainz, rounding off the scoreline by connecting with a pinpoint Kimmich cross, and netted against Schalke and Wolfsburg. He also scored in the Champions League encounter with Anderlecht.
