Lewandowski and Poland seal World Cup spot
Robert Lewandowski took his World Cup qualifying tally to 16 goals in ten matches on Sunday evening, when Poland sealed a spot in Russia. The FCB striker scored Poland's third goal in the 4-2 victory over Montenegro in Warsaw. The result means Poland have won Group E on 25 points and are the 14th team to qualify for the finals. The tournament in Russia will be the eighth World Cup finals to feature Poland.
Krzysztof Maczynski put the hosts in front early in the contest before Lewandowski invited Kamil Grosicki to double the lead. Montenegro struck twice to level the scores late in the second half, Stefan Mugosa and Zarko Tomasevic finding the net. Lewandowski then capitalised on a blunder, scoring his 51st goal for Poland before Filip Stojkovic put through his own goal.
