Heynckes: A positive beginning

Five goals, three points: Jupp Heynckes' return could not have been more successful. The Bavarians were pleased after the clear-cut victory over Freiburg. "It was important to have a good start," Heynckes commented after the final whistle. But Bayern's head coach hastened to add: "We still have a lot of work ahead of us."

Reaction to Bayern v Freiburg

Jupp Heynckes: "It was important to have a good start. We're buoyed by it, it boosts our confidence and poise. Our positional play was good, we let the ball do the work. In our current situation we shouldn't overestimate the 5-0 victory. It was good that the team wanted to score even more goals when they were two up. It was a positive beginning after the last few weeks."

Thomas Müller: "A nice moment! Of course there was a lot of pressure, we wanted to turn in a good display at home straightaway. I think we played quite well. We have to prepare for the next match with focus and prudence."

Mats Hummels: "We had planned it that way, it was a good match today. Of course the 5-0 scoreline looks superb but we made a few mistakes. It was fun today, we were looking out for each other."

Christian Streich (SC Freiburg coach): "Of course we're disappointed, we wanted to take something from the game. Two of our counter-attacks were symptomatic. If you don't finish your moves against Bayern the pressure gets too high. We gave it everything but we weren't good enough. We made it too easy for Bayern to win the match by this scoreline."

Florian Niederlechner (SC Freiburg): "We kept up quite well in the first half, but if you want to take something from here you have to make use of the chances you get. We didn't do it. We had no chance in the second half."
