There was no snow, but it certainly felt like winter on Monday afternoon in Munich. Gloves were standard among the Bayern players as they gathered in temperatures of four degrees Celsius following a training-free weekend. Jupp Heynckes was also back on the pitch after a week off, wrapped up in a warm training jacket.
Heynckes was able to welcome back James Rodríguez who’s the first player to return from international duty. He played in Colombia’s friendly in South Korea last Friday but is sitting out tomorrow’s game in China and has returned to Munich early. He joined in with training on Monday as preparations for Saturday’s Bundesliga game at home to Augsburg got under way.
In total there were eight senior players present: James, Sven Ulreich, Tom Starke, Rafinha, Javi Martínez, Arturo Vidal, Juan Bernat and Thomas Müller. The latter again only took part in the warm-up and the final passing exercises as he continues his comeback from a muscle injury, training individually while his teammates were put through various drills. In wintery conditions, the warm-up for Augsburg began.
