The training ground is filling up. After Jérôme Boateng (individual training) and James Rodríguez returned to the Säbener Strasse on Monday, Jupp Heynckes welcomed Robert Lewandowski back to training on Tuesday. The striker missed Poland's two friendlies with muscular problems but completed the squad programme in the morning.
Heynckes oversaw his second session after spending a few days at home last week. "I felt very much at ease. I did what I like to do, having a walk with my dog and doing sports," revealed the 72-year-old, who was well-informed despite the distance. "The lads and my staff did a very good job."
Heynckes is back at the training ground, full of energy. "The week started well, it's fun to work with the lads. The preparations for Augsburg are in full swing even if some players are still missing, but that's normal at a top club. You just have to accept the handicap."
Germany internationals Mats Hummels, Niklas Süle, Sebastian Rudy and Joshua Kimmich, Frenchmen Kingsley Coman and Corentin Tolisso (who cross swords with Germany on Tuesday evening) as well as Thiago are still on national team duty.
