On Saturday evening RSC Anderlecht won the warmup for their Champions League game against FC Bayern. Les Mauves prevailed 2-1 at Royal Excel Mouscron, claiming their fourth consecutive away victory and third place in the Jupiler League. Coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck's team now lie three points behind Charleroi and six behind Bruges, who can further extend their league on Sunday evening.
At Le Cannonier stadium, the teams played out an intensive match with few chances. Goals from Massimo Bruno in the 42nd minute and Henry Onyekuru in the 80th minute ensured victory for the visitors, with Omar Govea's 52nd minute goal only a short-lived equaliser for Mouscron, who lie eighth in the table. "It was a tough game on a tough pitch, and we dominated in the second half,“ said Anderlecht coach Vanhaezebrouck. "We didn't create many chances but we did what we had to and showed our character."
