Heynckes: "I'm optimistic"

Hannover 96 battled hard for a long time, but at the end of the day Bayern's 3-1 victory over the promoted side was deserved. "There was too much space between the lines in the first half," said Jupp Heynckes after an entertaining match. "We had lots of chances, unfortunately we didn't take them. But I think the victory and the margin were deserved."

Reaction to Bayern v Hannover

Jupp Heynckes: "There was too much space between the lines in the first half.  Hannover were very well-organised, we had problems when they staged counters. We were in command and controlled the rhythm in the second half. We had lots of chances, unfortunately we didn't take them. But I think the victory and the margin were deserved. Taken altogehter I'm satisfied: Thomas Müller played after a long spell on the sidelines, Kingsely Coman was injured for two weeks, Jérôme Boateng is slowly but surely recovering his usual form, so I'm optimistic for the remaining matches."

Thomas Müller: "We had a large number of chances. All in all it was a lively match, and the course of events was interesting for the spectators."

André Breitenreiter (Hannover 96 coach): "Congratulations to FC Bayern and Jupp Heynckes. We turned in a respectable display, we were well-organised especially in the first half. We staged good counter-attacks at times, unfortunately we didn't make the most of them. We wanted to be awkward opponents in the second half too. Our keeper saved many of their chances. At the end of the day Bayern's victory and the margin were deserved."

Philipp Tschauner (Hannover 96 keeper): "We're a bit disappointed, but there's no reason to hang our heads. We were very awkward opponents, we wanted to take something away. Unfortunately we didn't succeed."
