The Germany goalkeeper agreed with coach Jupp Heynckes to miss the FC Bayern Christmas party in order to collect the award in person. This accolade is awarded to personalities for their dedication to society. In recent years recipients have included Queen Rania of Jordan, Hollywood actor George Clooney and Britain's Prince Harry. Neuer has been involved for a long time with his "Manuel Neuer Kids Foundation" for socially disadvantaged children and young adults, especially in his home town Gelsenkirchen.
