Chilly final training

Beanies, scarves and gloves on, the FC Bayern players took to the training pitch at Säbener Straße on Monday for their final training session ahead of the Champions League tie at home to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday. With frost on the ground and a cold wind blowing outside, coach Jupp Heynckes greeted 21 players, including three from the reserves: Marco Friedl, Kwasi Okyere Wriedt and Maxime Awoudja. There are no new injury concerns following the Bundesliga victory over Hannover on Saturday, which meant the only absentees from training were Manuel Neuer, Thiago, Arjen Robben and Juan Bernat.

Cakir to take charge

Referee Cüneyt Cakir has been appointed to take charge of Bayern’s game with PSG on Tuesday. It’s the fifth time the 41-year-old will oversee an FCB match, with Bayern winning three of the previous four under the Turkish official (1 draw). Cakir last took charge of an FCB game in May 2016, with was the 2-1 home win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-final, but still saw the German champions knocked out on the away goals rule.

FCB basketballers maintain lead at the top

Despite at one stage being 11 points behind, the FC Bayern basketballers have continued their winning run in the Basketball Bundesliga and maintained their lead at the top of the table. Sasa Djordjevic’s team prevailed 85-78 at Science City Jena on Sunday and now sit on 22 points – four ahead of second-placed ALBA Berlin. “It’s important to still win even if you don’t play well. In that sense, it’s a good win for us," said FCB coach Djordjevic. On Wednesday (6 December), the Bavarians are in EuroCup action at Lietkabelis in Panevezys, Lithuania.
