Trio "on the road to recovery"

Bayern were able to indulge in their passion for goalscoring on their penultimate day in Doha. Ahead of the friendly match against Al-Ahli in the evening (17:30 AST / 15:30 CET / 14:30 GMT, highlights available on FC Bayern TV), Jupp Heynckes gave his players plenty of opportunities to fire on goal. With crosses alternating from the left and the right, Thomas Müller, Sandro Wagner & co. filled their boots.

As was the case in previous days, there were three players missing from the team session: Mats Hummels, Robert Lewandowski and Joshua Kimmich. Hummels (adductor problems) and Lewandowski (kneecap problems) continued to train alone in the fitness room, while Kimmich took part in some running exercises out on the pitch following his illness.

“Most likely on Tuesday”

The trio’s time away from the team should not last much longer. Heynckes reckons they will re-join the team after the club’s return to Munich. “Lewandowski is really good again. I hope he can start training fully on Tuesday,” said the FCB coach. “Mats is on the road to recovery. It looks like he’ll also be able to train again on Tuesday.”

Kimmich had at first been suffering with a cold before a bout of tonsillitis, Heynckes added. “It’s not something to be trifled with.” However, the right-back will “most likely take part in training again on Tuesday.”

Sven Ulreich also looks to be fully fit again. The goalkeeper suffered a stubbed middle finger on his right hand in just the second training session in Doha but completed a normal goalkeeping session again on Saturday as he bravely faced the barrage of shots and headers from his teammates.
