Friedl joins Werder Bremen on loan

The Austria U 21 international Marco Friedl is leaving FC Bayern to join Werder Bremen on loan to 30 June 2019. He will then be under contract at FCB to 30 June 2021.

"Marco has made great progress in recent months. We hope he'll take the next step at Werder Bremen and develop into a regular first choice," said sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.

"I've had ten great years at FC Bayern and I'm very grateful for that. I'm now looking forward to a new challenge in Bremen. Werder are well known in Austria through players like Zlatko Junuzovic, Florian Kainz, Marco Arnautovic and Andreas Herzog,” Friedl explained.

Friedl joined FC Bayern as a 10-year-old in 2008 and since then he has played for all the junior teams at the German record champions. Last summer, he played in the U19 German Championship final. A few months before that, he signed his first professional contract at FC Bayern. At the end of November last year he made his first-team debut in the Champions League away game at Anderlecht. He played his first game in the Bundesliga shortly after that.
