After recharging their batteries for 12 days the Bayern players will travel to Qatar on Tuesday morning. Jupp Heynckes and his men will be looking to lay the foundation for a successful second half of the season at the six-day training camp in Doha (2 to 7 January).
25 players including new signing Sandro Wagner and youngsters Ron-Thorben Hoffmann, Lukas Mai (U-19s), Niklas Dorsch, Marco Friedl and Felix Götze (reserves) will travel to the desert emirate, where the German record champions stage their winter training camp for the eighth year in a row. Only convalescent trio Manuel Neuer, Thiago and Christian Früchtl will stay in Munich to continue their rehab.
Friendly against Al-Ahli
"We'll work really well there. There's not much time for preparation but we'll use it to get off to a good start to the second half of the season," announced sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. The Bavarians will once again work in excellent conditions at the Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence.
The FCB players will work up a sweat for the first time on their day of arrival. Time is scarce as the winter break is short due to the World Cup finals this summer. The men from Munich will play their only friendly in Doha. They take on Qatar Stars League side Al-Ahli SC at the Aspire facility on 6 January at 17.00 local time. Heynckes' men will be back in Bundesliga action only five days after their return form Doha (12 January), when they travel to face Bayer Leverkusen.
