Fellow Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen are Bayern's opponents in this season's DFB Cup semi-finals. The draw for the last four, held on Sunday, was conducted by Germany's goalkeepeing coach Andreas Kökpe and supervised by German FA (DFB) vice president Peter Frymuth.
FCB have previously faced Bayer five times in the DFB Cup, with the Bavarians progressing on four occasions, as they did in the last meeting at the BayArena on penalties in the 2015 quarter-finals. The last encounter between the two sides was in fact only a few weeks ago as Bayern won 3-1 in Leverkusen to kick off the second half of the Bundesliga campaign.
Following a comfortable 5-0 victory over Chemnitzer FC in the first round, the penalty shootout win over Leipzig in the second round and a tight 2-1 success against Dortmund in the last sixteen, the men from Munich now hit six at third-tier Paderborn to set up this semi-final clash in Leverkusen.
Bayer's path to the final four has seen them see off Karlsruher (3-0 a.e.t.), Union Berlin (4-1), Borussia Mönchengladbach (1-0) and Werder Bremen (4-2 a.e.t.).
The tie in Leverkusen will be played on either 17 or 18 April, with the schedule to be finalised in the coming days. Should Bayern live up to their role as favourites, they will face either Schalke or Eintracht Frankfurt in the final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on 19 May.
