
Bayern once again among the best in China
FC Bayern are once again among the best in terms of digital activity in China in 2018. The Red Card: China Digital Football Index is an annual report by Shanghai-based Mailman Group and places Bayern third in the ranking with 66 points behind Manchester United (71) and Real Madrid (68).
The German record champions also won additional awards for "Best Tour Campaign" and "Best Use of Technology". The former related to the Audi Summer Tour 2017 and focused particularly on the excellent reporting of the tour on FCB’s official digital channels in China. Bayern-related content on Sina Weibo, WeChat and Yizhibo received over 52 million views during the club’s stays in Shanghai and Shenzhen.
The Bavarians were also awarded a prize for the best use of technology by a European club in the Far East, allowing fans to get even closer to the record champions with the use of the latest virtual reality technology. With 4,000 specially produced VR glasses, Bayern gave Chinese fans ahead of the friendly matches in Shanghai and Shenzhen the chance to experience a 360-degree tour of the Allianz Arena or a tour of the training ground at Säbener Straße.
Shanghai-based Mailman Group is one of the leading sports marketing agencies in China. The China Digital Football Index is now in its seventh edition and compares the digital activities of European clubs the world’s most populous country.
