"I'm considering fielding Thiago from the start away to Wolfsburg next Saturday," Jupp Heynckes declared before the match against Schalke last week. The Spaniard was so buoyed by the prospects of making the starting line-up next weekend that he reported to Säbener Straße even though there was no training on Tuesday. After sustaining a muscle injury in his thigh against Anderlecht at the end of November, the midfielder is fired up for his return to the squad.
The 26-year-old is working towards his comeback every day. Kingsley Coman joined Thiago on the training ground, both dribbling their way through the slalom poles. The Frenchman is in good form and does not need to catch up, but the 21-year-old was impatient and did not want to take a breather.
Früchtl joins duo
The two performed a number of ball control drills under the auspices of assistant coach Peter Hermann. Christian Früchtl also joined them after working individually with goalkeeping coach Toni Topalovic, so Thiago and Coman practised their shooting.
"It's very nice to have a top player like him returning," Heynckes commented on Thiago, looking forward to his comeback. The fans will be thrilled to see Thiago play side by side with Coman again.
