Record for Heynckes

Bayern's 3-1 victory away to Besiktas was Jupp Heynckes' 11th Champions League victory in a row, a new record in Europe's premier club competition. The 72-year-old surpassed the record set by Louis van Gaal from May 2000 to September 2009 and Carlo Ancelotti from April 2014 to February 2015. Bayern have won all six of their CL matches since Heynckes' return, and they aim to extend their streak in the quarter-finals.

100th competitive goal this season

Thiago's opener was Bayern's 100th goal in competitive matches this term. The Munich men only needed 39 matches to reach this mark. The Spaniard scored his first left-footed CL goal, demonstrating his qualities in the knock-out rounds once again: he has scored six of his seven Champions League goals after the group stage.

Milestone for Rafinha

Rafinha too had reason to celebrate in Istanbul. The Brazilian made his 75th European appearance on Wednesday. He marked the occasion with a strong display and an assist as Besiktas' Gökhan Gönül put through his own goal following Rafinha's cross.
