It began five years ago in a Champions League quarter-final first leg. On 2 April 2013 FC Bayern and Jupp Heynckes beat Juventus 2-0, and Heynckes has won all his Champions League matches since then. On Tuesday night the FCB head coach won his 12th consecutive match in Europe's elite club competition, extending his record streak.
In mid-March he surpassed the record of ten wins in a row set by Louis van Gaal and Carlo Ancelotti, when Bayern won 3-1 away to Besiktas. Heynckes will extend another personal streak if Bayern keep on winning: Heynckes has always made it to the final when he has coached in the Champions League (1997/98, 2011/12, 2012/13).
