Neuer returns

Welcome back, skipper! After three weeks of just goalkeeper-specific sessions, Manuel Neuer finally returned to team training with his colleagues on Friday. The FCB captain completed part of the full session in the Munich sunshine before continuing his own personal exercises. "We're all really pleased with his development," enthused Jupp Heynckes about the return of the Germany and Bayern No.1. However, he went on to stress that Neuer will "pick up the pace in his goalkeeping training little by little". The Bayern captain has been sidelined since September with a broken metatarsal.

Well wishes to Besiktas coach

Besiktas coach Senol Günes suffered an injury to his head and had to be taken to hospital on Thursday when a chair was thrown at him during a riot in the semi-final of the Turkish Cup between his side and Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce. "I'd like to send my best wishes to Istanbul and Senol Günes, and wish him a quick recovery," Jupp Heynckes said at his press conference ahead of Saturday's match at Hannover, before denouncing the events: "Those are scenes we do not wish to see on a football pitch."
