Sevilla lost their dress rehearsal for Wednesday evening's quarter-final return leg away to FC Bayern. The Andalusians lost 4-0 to Celta Vigo, suffering a setback in La Liga. Sevilla are lying seventh in the table after going four matches without a win.
The 16,919 crowd in Vigo saw Sevilla dominate the match but struggle to create presentable chances at first. The hosts took the lead from nowhere before half-time, when Sevilla's Guilherme Arana put through his own goal, unluckily deflecting a cross. Sevilla defender Simon Kjaer took a knock and had to be subbed off.
Hat-trick for Vigo's Aspas
The hosts were in the driving seat after the interval. Celta Vigo ruthlessly punished Sevilla's mistakes, forward Iago Aspas being the man of the match. Aspas doubled the lead after 56 minutes, exploited a mistake by Sevilla keeper Soria just three minutes later to triple the lead and rounded off his hat-trick after 77 minutes, when Soria could only parry a Brais Mendez effort.
