Prominent diamonds, a reworked design and all in Bayern red – the record champions’ new home jersey for the 2018/19 campaign is available to purchase now. In a rousing and emotional presentation, FC Bayern and long-standing partner adidas unveiled the new shirt at Munich Mixed Arts (MMA) in the city centre on Tuesday evening.
“Back in the day I always used to look forward to getting the new Bayern shirt on my birthday, and then everything was fine. I think I’d have looked forward to it this year too,” said Thomas Müller, who joined skipper Manuel Neuer, David Alaba, Javi Martínez, James, Joshua Kimmich, Jérôme Boateng and Robert Lewandowski as lead models for the new jersey.
“I think it’s a great success,” declared right-back Kimmich, describing the shirt numbering in particular as “cool”. Centre-back Boateng agreed. “Feeling good in the shirt is important to me. It’s uncomfortable if you’re out on the pitch and the shirt doesn’t really suit,” commented the 2014 World Cup winner, who is currently sidelined with injury.
The new jersey receives its first run-out in Saturday’s Bundesliga fixture at home to VfB Stuttgart. Jupp Heynckes’ men will also wear the shirt in the DFB Cup final against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on 19 May.
The new shirt is available now from the FC Bayern Online-Shop, all FC Bayern Fan Shops and the adidas Online-Shop.
