Kingsley Coman took the next step towards his comeback from injury when he returned to the training pitch on Friday. “He looked very good again with the ball. We need to wait and see how he trains with the team,” commented Jupp Heynckes. A return before the end of the season has not been ruled out. “He might make it into the squad for the cup final. That would be ideal,” added the Bayern coach. Coman suffered an ankle ligament tear in February and only started running again last week.
Manuel Neuer also making progress
There was equally good news on Manuel Neuer. Having joined in with parts of full training this week and stepped up goalkeeper training, the 32 year-old is ready to take “another step forward”, according to Heynckes, and could take part in training games and drills from next week. “You always have to be careful. It’s an injury that’s happened two or three times, so you can’t make another mistake,” emphasised Heynckes.
