The handover of the Bundesliga shield will be a team effort this year. Thomas Müller has confirmed that he will assist Bayern captain Manuel Neuer in lifting the trophy after Saturday’s match against Stuttgart. “The Neuer/Müller duo will be in action,” said the 28 year-old on Tuesday evening during the presentation of the new Bayern kit. Müller has captained the side this season in the absence of the injured Neuer.
Neuer unsure about World Cup participation
Neuer does not want to say for certain whether he will feature for Germany at the World Cup in Russia this summer. “I think it’s inconceivable that I’ll go to a tournament without any match practice,” explained the 32 year-old. “There are still a couple of games left so we’ll just have to wait and see.” The Bayern goalkeeper suffered a recurrence of a metatarsal fracture in September and has been out of action since. Teammate Jérôme Boateng does expect to be in Russia, though: “I’m feeling better. I don’t think there’s a danger of me missing the World Cup,” said the centre-back.
