Thiago and Spain were successful in their final warm-up match for the World Cup finals. La Roja beat World Cup participants Tunisia 1-0 in Krasnodar but found it difficult at times against a brave North African side. Tunisia had the better chances to take the lead in the first half.
The only goal of the game for one of the fancied sides in the World Cup was scored on 84 minutes by Celta Vigo's Iago Aspas with an assist from Diego Costa. Bayern pro Thiago was in the starting line-up for the 2010 World Cup winners but was substituted at half-time.
Spain's first match in the World Cup tournament is against European champions Portugal on 15 June. After that, the Iberians play Iran on 20 June and Morocco on 25 June in Group B.
France draw with USA
It was a different story for Corentin Tolisso and France with a 1-1 draw against USA in Leon with a week to go before the World Cup opener against Australia. The former FC Bayern player Julian Green put the US Boys, who have not qualified for the World Cup finals in Russia, in front on 44 minutes. Les Bleus had to wait until 78 minutes for a deserved equaliser from Kylian Mbappé.
The Équipe Tricolore, with Tolisso coming on on 58 minutes, were unable to convert any further chances despite several good opportunities. That means Didier Deschamp's team go into the World Cup with one or two concerns. After the match against Australia on 16 June, France face Peru (21 June) and Denmark (2016) in Group C.
