Karl Hopfner awarded Federal Cross of Merit
Honorary FC Bayern member and former club president Karl Hopfner will be presented with the Fedral Cross of Merit by Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann on Tuesday. The award recognises the 65-year-old's commitment and untiring service to German and international football, and his contribution to the civic good. Starting in 1983, Hopfner filled a number of important roles at FC Bayern, and served as club president between 2014 and 2016. A graduate in business administration, he also held a variety of offices in domestic and international football and sat on the board of the German Footbal League (DFL), German FA (DFB), and European governing body UEFA.
