A new Martinez arrives in the world

Javi Martinez has just been given a great reason to celebrate as the 29-year-old has become a father for the second time. Daughter Naia now joins son Luca in the Martinez household. The Spaniard is current off on a well-deserved holiday before returning to training for 2 July. From everyone at fcbayern.com, felicidades, Javi!

Neuer calls for team spirit and belief

Following the disappointing opening World Cup defeat to Mexico, Manuel Neuer faced the media at a press conference on Tuesday. However, the Germany and FCB captain arrived 50 minutes later than planned because of a long team meeting, where they discussed what needs to be better. “We’re annoyed at ourselves,” the 32-year-old declared. “We’re a team. Everyone in this team has to take responsibility now.” He admitted he would have preferred to face Sweden immediately after the defeat to “make amends for that poor game.” Neuer & Co. finally get that chance on Saturday 23 June (20.00 CEST) in the second group game in Sochi, where the team will travel on Tuesday afternoon. “I’m looking forward to the change of scenery. We’ve got something new now. We have to show what’s always made us so strong. We’re convinced we can do it,” Neuer said with belief and confidence looking forward.
