FC Bayern have secured the services of Germany youth player Oliver Batista Meier over the long term. The 17-year-old forward joined the German record champions from 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the summer of 2016 and won the German U-17 championship title in his very first season in Munich.
"Oliver is very talented," said sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic: "We're happy we've secured his services over the long term. He's a fine footballer with a lot of pace and superb dribbling skills. Our goal is to help him improve."
Batista Meier, who participated in the European U-17 championship with Germany in May, said: "I've always dreamed of it. I'll do everything to become a pro here. I'm very happy to be here, and I hope I'll make it to the pros as soon as possible."
Batista Meier made 17 appearances for the U-17s last season, scoring 22 goals. He also made 24 appearances for the U-19s, including five UEFA Youth League appearances, scoring 11 goals. He contested the German U-17 championship final at the beginning of June, but Bayern lost 3-2 to Borussia Dortmund.
