Sven Ulreich voted 'Player of the Season'

It was his year. Following Manuel Neuer's serious injury, Sven Ulreich had to throw himself into the breach and did his job very well. With wonderful saves and great performances, the Bayern keeper was the mainstay of the team on the way to the German championship, the cup final and the semi-finals of the Champions League. The fans were delighted with the 29-year-old's performances, had already voted him Player of the Month three times and now, as a logical consequence, Player of the Season.

Almost a third of the participating Bayern fans were in favour of Ulreich (32.7 %). Neuer's deputy stood between the posts in 47 games of the past season and kept 17 clean sheets. In doing so, he lived up to his reputation as a penalty-killer, as the man with the number 26 shirt parried not only in the league against Serge Gnabry (TSG Hoffenheim), Chadrak Akolo (VfB Stuttgart) and Niklas Füllkrug (Hannover 96), with only Thorgan Hazard (Borussia Mönchengladbach) getting the ball past him. In the second round of the DFB Cup, he also saved Timo Werner's decisive penalty kick, thus securing FCB's passage into the round of 16. He repeated the feat against Sebastian Rode and Marc Bartra in the Supercup victory over Borussia Dortmund.

The second-highest number of votes after Ulreich went to Joshua Kimmich with 25.0 % - and the 23-year-old also had a big job to do this season. He had to follow in Philipp Lahm's footsteps and fill the position of full-back. The Germany international had no problems with that, however, and played impressively throughout with a total of six goals and 17 assists in 47 games. Third place went to newcomer James Rodriguez (19.6 %), who captivated the fans not only with great dribbling runs and goals but also with great commitment, passion and fighting spirit. In the end, the Colombian had a hand in a goal 22 times, with scoring 8 and assisting 14 in 39 matches.

Three fans win too

In addition to the FCB trio, however, three fans who cast their votes can also be happy with the outcome. Well done to Ingrid Gruber, Mike Heruth and Jonas Glöckler, who each win a shirt signed by Sven Ulreich. Congratulations!
