Cat content gets likes

Cat selfies, championship posts and live training. FC Bayern's posts and videos were diverse last season. The fans and followers are delighted:

FCB have seen a steady growth of subscribers, likes and views. Taken altogether, more than 8.5 million new fans joined in, including almost five million new fans on Facebook, where almost 50 million fans like FC Bayern, with hundreds of millions of interactions over the course of the last season. The most popular post was the one celebrating the sixth championship title in a row.

Almost 13 million users follow @fcbayern on Instagram. The German record champions' account lies fourth among the international football clubs. First and foremost, humorous content gets likes, for example the cat selfie with the team out on the pitch in the context of the Champions League match against Besiktas.

So-called stories that are only available for a short time are getting more and more important on social media. Snapchat was a pioneer, but you can also post content that is available for 24 hours on Instagram, where up to more than one million fans access FC Bayern stories. Bayern have multiple channels on Twitter posting in different languages. Taken altogether, 6.1 million users follow the German record champions. Like on Instagram, posts with a wink are the most popular ones.

Giphy is arguably the least known platform but not to be underestimated. FC Bayern's stickers and GIFs have been used more than half a billion times on the platform. Especially Mats Hummels can be pleased, his sticker has been accessed more often than any other.

 

The Bavarians are targeting another big milestone on YouTube. FC Bayern's channel might soon surpass the one-million mark. Almost 900,000 fans have subscribed to the channel so far. Especially James Rodríguez' first training session that was broadcast live for 20 minutes was interesting. The clip has been accessed almost 590,000 times so far.

Because of these magnificent numbers FC Bayern have been crowned 2017/18 social media champions.

Last season was a success for Bayern, not only because of the sixth German championship title in a row, but also in terms of social media.
