Serge Gnabry left the training pitch on Tuesday morning with a big grin on his face. After weeks of hard individual training, the 22 year-old was able to complete the majority of team training for the first time since tearing muscle bundle in April. The new arrival, who spent last season on loan at Hoffenheim following his transfer to Bayern last summer, didn’t shirk any tackles as he and the rest of the squad went through running acceleration drills, passing exercises and intensive games. The attacker only sat out the final game.
Coach Niko Kovac also welcomed two other new faces onto the training pitch. Centre-back Chris Richards (below second from right), who has joined the FCB U19s on loan from the FC Dallas academy, was among the many youth players who took part in training.
Alex Timossi Andersson (below right) also joined his new teammates on the pitch for the first time. The 17-year-old Swedish youth international signed from Helsingborgs IF last summer but stayed at his home club for another year. “He’ll train with the U19s to start with,” said Hasan Salihamidzic at last week’s press conference, explaining why the promising attacker had been brought to Munich a year earlier than planned. “If he performs then he can progress and move up to the first team if required. It’s in all our interests to develop such players at FC Bayern.”
