Performance tests make Bayern sweat

Day two of the pre-season and the Bayern boys were really made to sweat in training. Coach Niko Kovac organised performance tests for Tuesday to get an idea of the state of fitness of his players. From eight in the morning, Franck Ribéry & Co., under the guidance of Dr. Holger Broich (Head of Science & Fitness), pushed themselves to the limit in various tests.

In addition to stamina, pace and jumping ability, weight measurement plus blood and movement analysis were on the agenda. The performance tests will be completed on Wednesday morning with balance, vision and orthopaedic tests.

As all these sessions are held behind closed doors at the performance centre, only Serge Gnabry was out on the training ground at Säbener Straße. The 22-year-old new signing has been working on his comeback since suffering a muscular injury in April and he completed a couple of running drills before he could use the ball on the pitch again.

His team-mates will be on the the training ground on Wednesday afternoon. And although this session is not open, all Bayern fans can be there: FC Bayern TV LIVE will broadcast free from 16:30 CET.
