Bayern begin preparations for Stuttgart

The morning after the great celebrations surrounding Bastian Schweinsteiger’s testimonial, FC Bayern quickly turned their attentions to the coming Bundesliga match at VfB Stuttgart on Saturday. Niko Kovac had 18 outfield players available to him for a predominantly regenerative session after the team had gone through an intense training on Tuesday morning ahead of the evening’s match against Chicago Fire.

As well as Kingsley Coman (ankle), Leon Goretzka was also absent as he completed a session in the performance centre. The midfielder picked up a knock against the MLS side and was taken off as a precaution. Goalkeepers Manuel Neuer, Sven Ulreich and Christian Früchtl also conducted individual sessions inside.

However, Thomas Müller, who was also taken off with a knock, Niklas Süle and Javi Martinez, who had both missed the match through illness, were all back involved. Kovac has two more sessions planned ahead of Saturday’s clash of the southern giants at Stuttgart’s Mercedes-Benz-Arena to prepare his team for the second league game of the season (kick-off at 18:30 CEST, coverage available via our live ticker).
