FC Bayern München is in mourning for Richard Ortner. Club member #1 passed away at the age of 96 in Pullach near Munich on Monday 27 August. Ortner joined FC Bayern on 1 April 1937 and was honoured by the club for his great loyalty (80 years) last year.
"On behalf of FC Bayern München I would like to express my condolences to Richard Ortner's family. Our thoughts are with you," said president Uli Hoeneß: "Richard Ortner is part of FC Bayern's history. He experienced nearly everything at first hand, from the time with our former president Kurt Landauer, the promotion to the Bundesliga to our most recent successes. Richard Ortner will always be part of FC Bayern."
The funeral service takes place at the cemetary in Pullach on Tuesday 4 September 2018 at 10 am.
