FC Bayern are mourning the passing of former player Arpad Fazekas. The five-time Hungary international goalkeeper passed away in early-August at the age of 88 in his hometown of Budapest.
Fazekas, who began his professional career at Ujpest Budapest, played in Munich from 1957 to 1961, and was the goalkeeper in the first FCB team to win the DFB Cup with a 1-0 win over Fortuna Düsseldorf in 1957. Following his time in the Bavarian capital he joined Hessen Kassel before finishing his career at Anderlecht in 1964. The link to FC Bayern, however, was never lost and the Hungarian would often come to Munich to meet up with his former teammates from the 1957 team. FC Bayern will forever remember the former goalkeeper and cup winner.
