He's back. As the penultimate FC Bayern player, James Rodriguez started the pre-season on Wednesday. The Colombian returned to first team training with the record champions four weeks after the World Cup exit against England. The 27-year-old started with a gentle run around the training ground at Säbener Straße before moving on to an individual session at the performance centre.

While James returned to work for his first day of the pre-season, the other World Cup players began their second week of training in midsummer temperatures. The players who took part in the Audi Summer Tour are still on leave. Only the World Cup winner Corentin Tolisso is unavailable at the moment. Coach Niko Kovac will have his two training groups together on the pitch on Thursday morning before the squad sets off for the training camp on Tegernsee in the afternoon.
