Germany will contest the matches against France at the Allianz Arena on 6 September (20.45 CEST) and against Peru in Sinsheim on 9 September (20.45 CEST) with seven Bayern players, head coach Joachim Löw announced at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday. Eight days before the start of the newly founded Nations League against the reigning world champions, Löw called up Manuel Neuer, Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels, Niklas Süle, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Thomas Müller.
Löw analysed the reasons for Germany's exit at the World Cup group stage at his first press conference after the tournament in Russia. The 58-year-old admitted "misjudgement," believing "we'd make it through the group stage with our dominant play. To stick to this play all the circumstances must be right so we can tolerate this high risk. These circumstances weren't right for us in these matches," declared the Germany coach. Besides, Germany failed to "light a new fire" after the World Cup triumph in 2014. As a consequence, "we have to find possibilites to be more flexible and variable in our play." It will be important to "find the right blend of experience and young, dynamic players" in the future, according to Löw.
