When the Bayern faithful enter the stadium on Sunday evening for the Telekom Sport Trophy match against Manchester United, they will revel in a completely new Allianz Arena. The stadium now features red seats in the middle tier, the FCB logo in the north, "Mia-san-Mia" lettering in the west stand and "FC Bayern München" spelled out in the east stand, plus a colourful redesign of the promenades and cascade stairways in the club’s famous red. Following a comprehensive makeover in the summer, the Allianz Arena is finally resplendent in an exclusively FC Bayern look.
But that's not all. Numerous fans spent weeks on end lovingly and painstakingly redesigning six of the Arena’s kiosks with images from the club's history. In addition, reusable drinks containers will be in use from Sunday, a smoking ban takes effect in the stands and the Arena Card becomes the sole method of payment in the bistro. In addition, four hydraulic lift cushions have been replaced with new electric lift cushions (allowing opening in the event of fire or to prevent heat accumulation at high temperatures) and an orbital maintenance walkway was installed, making it easier to access the floodlights and other technical equipment directly under the roof. Finally, parts of the Esplanade leading to the stadium from the south were redesigned. This means that fans will experience the first of the new features the minute they leave the station or the car park on the way to their new all-FC Bayern home.
