Sebastian Rudy (28) leaves FC Bayern Munich to join FC Schalke 04 with immediate effect. The Germany international signed a four-year deal in Gelsenkirchen on Monday evening. Midfielder Rudy joined the German record champions from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim a year ago.
"I'd like to thank Sebastian for his performances," said the chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, "last season he played an important part in winning the sixth league title in succession. We wish Sebastian all the best for the future."
Sporting director Hassan Salihamidzic added: "Sebastian is a great pro and has always behaved in an exemplary manner. Regardless of whether he was on the pitch from the start or on the bench - we could always rely on him."
The 28-year-old played 35 games for FC Bayern scoring one goal in the 3-0 win at Hannover on matchday 31 of last season. The defensive midfielder also provided five assists. In addition to winning the league title, Rudy twice won the German Super Cup with FC Bayern.
