With a beaming grin on his face and a gold medal around his neck, Corentin Tolisso landed back in Munich on Sunday and was given a fitting welcome by FC Bayern. “I’m very happy to be part of the team that added another star to my country’s badge,” exclaimed the midfielder on his return. “I’ve been away from Munich for a long time and of course I’m pleased to be back. I’ll do my best to help my club achieve everything this season.”
He then headed straight to Säbener Straße for his first training session. After some stability exercises, Tolisso had a ride on the bike before finishing with a run in the forest. The 24-year-old was given an extended holiday after France’s victory in Russia.
"Tolisso earned his time off, a World Cup takes a lot of energy out of you," explained Niko Kovac. The Frenchman will continue his preparations with performance tests and intensive training sessions over the coming days, and hopes to be fully fit for the Bundesliga curtain-raiser against Hoffenheim on 24 August. “I’ll try to be back with the team as soon as possible,” said the World Cup winner, who’s now raring to go.
