The tenth Allianz Junior Football Camp took place in Munich last week, with 56 youngsters from 24 different countries invited to the Bavarian state capital by Bayern shareholders Allianz. The 14-16-year-olds got to mix with other people their age from all over the world, but of course football was the main focus of the five-day camp.

Three training sessions in theory and practice were held from Tuesday to Thursday, led by World Cup winner Klaus Augenthaler and numerous Bayern youth coaches. The content of the training was shaped by the key words ‘confidence’, ‘change’ and ‘trust’.

Kahn, Schweinsteiger and a World Cup winner

There was a wide range of other activities, too, including talks from long-serving Bayern captain Oliver Kahn and the German astronaut Gerhard Thiele. The participants got to see their idols up close during an open training session and meet & greet session, where they landed photos and autographs with the likes of world champion Corentin Tolisso and Thomas Müller.

A highlight of the visit was Bastian Schweinsteiger’s testimonial at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday evening. Their stay ended with a football tournament at Säbener Straße on Friday morning, before they returned home with a suitcase full of memories.
